The Model, SRI Sport Tourer.
Had the car for almost 10 months now, I owned a Laguna from new and was in the market to buy the latest model, until i came to sit init which put me off, except for the comfy seats the interior didnt jump out at me even though it was the Initial the equivalent of the Elite. So i carried on reading reviews on all the larger cars, except vauxhall as i was never a fan. Jan 2012 after looking for almost 9 months (I am rather fussy) I decided to give the Insignia a go, just to tick it off my list really, I drove down to Derby (60 miles from home) at the time as Motorpoint had a 1.8i ST Insignia in in Silver lake, as I walked towards the car i fell in love with it, the salesman left me alone and I sat in it. that was it I had to own this car Vauxhall was now my number 1 on the list.
The car was the same spec as i have now, and i was in favour of buying the Petrol for a change. I came away with a smile on my face but didnt part with any cash as I wanted to read the in depth reviews about the model. To my shock the under power of the 1.8 came through and expensive ish to run. So i opted out. (sorry to anyone who owns a 1.8).
Continued the search for months on end, wasn't fussed where the car was located, came April 2012 I came across a 2.0 cdti SRI Nav ST in my fave colour. So I spoke to the salesman in at Cramlington Vauxhall and arranged a test drive, from home to the dealership 300 mile round trip, so fingers crossed, i went down 1 saturday morning and took the car for a 25 mile test drive which there and then I was smitten.
I picked the car up 2 weeks after i test drove it.
The car has everything i want, no need to go into detail as we all have pretty much the same.
A 3 year network Q warranty and the remainder of vxs warranty to.
So niggles, with the car heck no its been fantastic, i dont use it alot but it starts first time everytime even with this bad weather. Its got the lumbar support, i have a bad back and that fixs it on long journeys. Since the service the mpg has risen from avg 38-42 mpg to 43-46 mpg, so even happier.
the only grumble is Vauxhall themselves, I had a problem with the boot cover and vx didnt want to pay for it mind i had only had the car 3 days and it took almost 3 months of phone calls and emails to get it replaced.
Ok better get onto the review of the car,
I'm over 6 foot tall and the cabin is super spacious for me, frequently go out for meals with friends and the car is weighed down with 4 adults but the engine is so responsive it feels like its just me in the car, rear headroom is very good, comfort is second to none, however if your sitting in the back in the middle its a bit hard on the back. the trim level excels, doesnt feel plasticy, for a car that is half the price of mercs and beamers the interior i would say is on par with them. The boot size allthough not that much bigger than the hatch is huge, I like the false floor to, comes in handy for fragile items such as picture frames and so on. Plenty of cubby holes in the rear to, though i think they should have added a torch, as the rear lighting is poor, thankfully i have upgraded all my lighting to the leds??so visibilty at night is now ok.
The Dashboard is the best i have had yet, so many gadgets to look at and play with. It all stream lines well at night.
The outside of the car looks the business, presence on the road is felt, especially on motorways.
I feel afls should have been fitted as standard, but i like my headlamps all the same.
I dont trust the electric brake all ways leave the car in gear when parked up.
Thats it.
Over all would I buy another,,,, Maybe but next time al be in the market for a vxr if not itl be a Subaru.
