  • Getting scuff out of plastics

    Hi all.

Noticed today on the wife's astra that someone has hit the wing mirror and scuffed the plastic and paint.

Good hour I've managed to salvage up the top cover as it had only transfer and some slight scratching.

The main damage is on the black plastic part below. (Please see pictures).

Is this a filler job or does someone know of a way to fix this?

    Thank you

It's a filler job as they're far to deep.

Could you get a used casing part from eBay?

I'm not to sure if the bottom is actually removable. Found plenty of the top covers but not the bottom.

Using a smoother grade paper, take the edges off the scuffs.
then using a plastic filler, fill the scuffs.
            Then flatten.
Repeat with filler until it's smooth.
Sand it until the filler and scuffs blend with the plastic.
            Coat it with plastic primer
Then using either Matt black, or Satin black (depending on what finish you want) paint it.
            Job done
