How do you care for the paint on your alloy wheels?

I went to a charity car wash few months back and they went a little hard when cleaning the alloys. They used them green dish washing pads. So now i have very faint scratches and a scuff mark on one of the alloys. Can these be polished out jus like faint scratches on the body paint?

Never polished an alloy before. Used sealant but not polish!

Going halfords. See if t-cut or something else will work

No no no! Don't touch any part of your car with T-Cut!??Jesus I nearly had a heart attack at that post!! Take it to a wheel specialist and get an opinion/quote!

A very poor one at that! If you rubbed that into your alloys you'd have more scratches than you started with. Same goes with paint work! If you try and use it to get a scratch out you'll be needing other correction products to get the lines out it leaves behind! Horrible stuff!

We used t-cut to restore my mates Astra G. It got alot of the scratches out and used touch up paint on the deeper ones

Oh forgot about megs compound. Will be using that for my wheels. I used their polish and its brilliant so their compound should be just as good

Just be carefully with it as it is abrasive. The difference between that and t-cut is Meg's Compond breaks down to a smooth paste, t-cut remains continually abrasive! Thus inflicts more damage as it corrects the main scratch. Gtechniq is superb! For dark cars also try Prima Amigo!

Cheers scotty. Will give megs compound a try on the alloys. Hope it works. Dont want to spend the money to get all the alloys resprayed. Charity car washes never again. Will just give them the money and leave the car dirty

Yep. Didn't see the damage till I got home. Its not really bad but you can see it when you are close up. Was only on the wheels
