Looks like that's the case for free lifetime updates.
Other models should qualify for an update within 90 days of purchase (new vehicles) according to this page

However, the update process did not work for my Insignia when I bought it and it was at this point I was told HERE do not supply the Insignia maps and it has taken me over 12 moths to get an update - as I have now been supplied with an update from HERE it's possible this may work now.
