I would agree with taking the box off, it could be causing the issue or the extra fueling is clogging the dpf quicker.

This might help (cured mine of a similar fault when I had my diesel 09 plate insignia):

Option: Complaint: Customer complains that vehicle is down on power and SVS lamp on, DTC: P2453 (5A) logged in ECM.

      Cause

      Weakness of engine software.

      Production

Improved engine software will be introduced as of MY2013.

      Cure

In case of customer complaint delete DTC as described below and reflash ECU with the improved Software which is available as of 13-Aug-2012 (Insignia) and 27-Aug-2012 (Zafira,Astra-J).

Possibly DTC P0520 or P06DA (00) might be set after SPS programming was performed. For that reason please perform as described:

1.) It is absolutely necesarry to carry out Config/Setup after successful SPS programming!

      Note:

Once the Config/Setup was performed the system will raise the question whether the ECU was replaced and programmed with the latest software. Due to the fact that no hardware was replaced this question must be answered with NO!!

2.) Reset DPF sensor by using GDS2 tool and delete DTC: P2453 (5A).

      3.) Carry out Service-Regeneration.

      Note:

If DTC P2453 (5A) was set please perform throttlebody cleaning as described in TSB 2991.

During the service regeneration cycle the exhaust temperature sensor will indicate a value of 0?C. This default value has no influence to the regeneration cycle, e.g. the cycle will run through w/o any problems. Starting 24-Sep-2012 a modified GDS2 version will be implemented pre-senting the correct temperature value.

Please note: No parts must be replaced!
