General engine enquiry???

Hi all, a good mate of mine is looking to buy an insignia, but he's looking at a 1.6 diesel. Are they any good. I've recommended 2.0 diesel, which is what I have (b20dth)...but don't really know the difference between the 2 engines...

Its a chain.

Reliable, mpg fairly good but no where near 88mpg.

Thanks, I'll let him know, he's interested in a couple on A/T. Bit of a bummer on the mpg though, thought it would exceed 88 mpg .

Had a 20 plate GS 1.5 diesel for a week whilst the VX stealer was preparing my 68 Plate 2.0 SRI VXline, pros were for the 1.5 that it seemed to have great fuel economy whilst my 2.0 litre has bags of grunt but does an average of about 32 - 33 mpg, my older 64 plate 2.0 Techline did nearly 40mpg tho!!! mmmmmmmm
