  • Slow coolant leak

Hi all, another question for you all please.

Had the insignia SRI Nav 2.0 Turbo since Saturday, coolant level flashed up yesterday so I topped it up and noticed this morning it has dropped again but not a lot but enough for me to notice. I do around 120 miles a day. Also noticed sometimes when driving on motorway the temp guage sits at 80 rather than 90.

I can't see any noticeable leaks a lot, does anyone know what the cause could be? Or common places for these engines to leak?

I've looked in the oil filler cap that seems fine no white misting or gunk.

    Thanks in advance.

You could have a faulty cap or bottle.
it's a common fault on the petrol models

I have noticed some fluid marks, little dots on the engine cover after driving. Doesn't appear to be oil either could this possibly be coolant squirting onto the left hand side of the engine cover from somewhere?

My son has had this with petrol Insignias that came into his garage.

He's now suffered the same issue with his petrol Vectra C

                  Age related wear mate.
                  and the cap spring fails.

He bought a brand new one from eBay for his Vectra, £20 including postage

It solved his issue pal......and the cap renewal solved the Insignia ones.

So, I'd go for the cap first.....around a fiver.
If it solves it, it's a cheap fix

Turns out it's the water pump. In the garage being changed.
