  • Service vehicle soon - loss of power - N0104

    Hello,
I've done a few searches on here and on Google, so please forgive me if this is a question that has been asked before as I couldn't find too much.

    Car:
    Vauxhall Insignia, 2014 2L turbo-diesel 163bhp SRINAV

I was recently pulling off the A55 and just as I accelerated onto the roundabout an alarm went off and the display showed the "Service vehicle soon" notification, I lost a bit of power (I could accelerate but it was struggling to get past 40 going on a slight uphill it normally wouldn't struggle with at all, I wasn't pushing the engine once I realised the power wasn't there). Parked up nearby and checked for error codes and there was nothing, no engine warning light either. Went into a shop and when I came out it was supposedly fine, no service warning and the power was back.

I booked in to the local Kwikfit for Tuesday and when I got home I had a look on my Nonda/Zus vehicle health sensor to see if it picked up anything my little OBD computer had missed and it returned the error code 'N0104: Voltage Drops Significantly (more than 15%)'.
I've just had a main service in July and the battery was replaced, passed the MOT with flying colours. I had the computer software updated roughly 2 years ago as well.

I've been doing a few short journeys but just last night I took it out for a longer drive up the A55 to get the engine warmed up and everything, as I do regularly if I've only been doing short trips (I also relatively regularly use the redex diesel system cleaner and DPF cleaner, whether that does anything I've no idea but I only buy it on offer anyway). I'm due to make a 2 hour drive at the end of the week and I'd rather not have this to worry about the whole way.

Any ideas? This Kwikfit I've booked into is a pretty decent one, never done me wrong in the past, but I'd still like a better idea of what's going on before I take it in.
    Thanks!

Well.....I never thought in all my days I would actually witness someone claiming that Kwik Fit was decent.

The loss of power sounds like the MAP sensor needs looking at.

But, to be honest, you would be better booking into a good mechanic and get it onto a proper diagnostic machine to read the codes.

We could all be playing a guessing game and you would end up throwing money at it.

read the fault codes and go from there.

Yeah, I was as surprised as you are, but the bunch there are alright. Them having the cheapest decent tyres around my end helps.

I took it out for a drive to see if it would repeat and had nothing, checked the Nonda thing again and this time it showed no codes or issues.
I'll take it easy on the drive back to Mid-Wales and get it into a good garage back that end, then, thanks!
