  • Battery problem on start up

Hi guys, bit of an odd one.

If I get in my car turn the key and start the engine I get no battery warning light. If I get in the car, turn the ignition on let it do its thing, wait for all lights to go out and then start the car I get the battery warning light stay on with the battery service message.

The car doesn't struggle to start at all.

    Any ideas where to start?

    How old is the battery?
try checking things like the battery terminal clamps .main earth lead check everything for corrosion and tightness if in doubt clean up and re-tighten .

Potentially a weak battery or bad connection somewhere

as said previously check all fittings for corrosion and security if all okay, get a battery health check done and replace if necessary

Get a battery test. Most garages will probably do it for some change if you drop by. Average battery life on diesel cars who draws a lot of power is 5-6-7 years. It's also recommended to charge up the battery 2-3 times a year. That can extend the life of the battery with a couple of years.
