  • Egr excessive flow detected

    Hi

A few weeks ago i set off to work it was quite foggy and my 2011 2.0cdti insignia and p0402 fault code kept coming up
i must of reset it about 15 times before i got to work

On the drive home it faulted another couple of times

The next few days no faults at all until it was foggy again and faulted again a few more times same fault code

Ive cleaned the map sensor egr and the pipe at the side which had loads of muck in i also read on here to clean
maf sensor is that the air flow sensor connecter to the air filter and how would you clean it

Any way after all that and its is still doing the fault intermittently

Is there anything else i should be looking at

Make sure the EGR is actually working.
Excessive flow either denotes that the EGR is not functioning or there is a air leak.
Which you would either have to search for get it smoke tested .

        Is this Fault code ,33
Or it goes into fault 33 times a day?
If it's fault code 33 then that's Check trailer fog light !
Without looking at the car how do you know the EGR is the main culprit.
Yes you can do a EGR delete.
But you would be better getting a EGR restrictor
        They do them on eBay
But make sure it's got a good few holes
Then it won't bring on the EML .
But you have to clean the EGR first.

          Thanks lizard - t
          Sorry I didn't reply earlier
It faulted 33 times that day but hasn't done it again since I have ordered the egr restrictor so I'll give that a try

No the restrictor didn't turn up in the end the seller couldn't get them for some reason
I have looked since but couldn't find anyone who sold them
it is weird you have asked now though I didn't have any troubles at all since before Christmas but this week it has started up again
There are a few more codes though this time
              p1409 and p0193
There are plenty of restrictors for the vectra 1.9 i dont no if it would fit but maybe worth a try

Get a tin lid and trim to size and drill some holes in it .
That's how I've done it in the past .

Did you just clean the EGR pipe or did you do the main EGR valve? If the pipe was gunky the valve will be too
