Electric Tailgate not closing

Hello All, Newbie here!

My electric tailgate will open using the keyfob or boot catch on the tailgate but it wont close by pressing the button on the inside of the boot panel. Is this a common/easy fix? just feels a bit un-natural to close it manually against the struts.

Any help is appreciated! Thanks

Do you know what?
There's a first for everything.
I've not heard of it happening myself.but I don't profess to know everything.
Maybe the switch is defective.
But the only way you would know is to do some simple electrical test like power and grounds.
But of course be careful especially that it's a powered tail gate . don't want that crushing you.

new buttom, had the same with mine, switch the button, problem solved, off-course I dont know about yours, but give it a go.
