I was thinking, does anyone know or think mudflaps will increase fuel consumption due to the drag factor?

That's the best question anyones asked on here,

              Hi Uncle Paul

It's me - unable to spell correctly again.

I think it will not affect the mpg since there are quite a few cars out there with mudflaps that does not cause any loss on mpg.

              I may be wrong .

                Well.....

Mudflaps are now rarely specified as standard on production cars as they interfere with the clean airflow around the vehicle. For larger vehicles such as trucks, mud flaps are still important for their control of spray, and in 2010 a new version of the mud flap was introduced that has been shown to create significantly less aerodynamic drag than standard mud flaps.[9]

The trapezoidal rule is one of a family of formulas for numerical integration called Newton–Cotes formulas, of which the midpoint rule is similar to the trapezoid rule. Simpson's rule is another member of the same family, and in general has faster convergence than the trapezoidal rule for functions which are twice continuously differentiable, though not in all specific cases. However for various classes of rougher functions (ones with weaker smoothness conditions), the trapezoidal rule has faster convergence in general than Simpson's rule.[1]
