  • Which service?

Hi guys, car is due a service however looking at the service book I'm a bit confused as to what needs doing.

Last years service has been marked as a major service with the pollen filter, air filter, brake fluid and of course an oil and oil filter change. Belts are good as they were done in 2021 so could I get away with just an oil change and basic checkup this year?

    Any input welcome...

    Thanks!

What’s the mileage ? Any receipts for gearbox fluid change? Or fuel filter change?

Car is on just under 60k miles.

No receipts for gearbox fluid change, though no issues with it and it doesn't hold onto gears or anything. Fuel filter I was thinking of getting done anyway as there's no mention of it and this is my second service since I've had the car.

If it helps, My car was given a major service every year, I didn't bother with the interim services every other year.. It might be deemed a little excessive but at least I got piece of mind that she was getting the best service she could have every year.

Yeah good point. It would be good to know that it was indeed having the best it could every year. It does hardly any mileage though - less than 5k a year - so might not need a major service.

Remember it's not just the mileage that dictates when a service is due its time as well.
A lot can wear over time and doing shorter trips puts more stress on components and if it's a diesel it's more important to make sure oil is changed sooner rather than later.

ive always been of the theory that oil is the life blood of any engine
I changed mine every 3 months and when it's MOT time I get the garage to do a full service ( all filters ) I only do 6000 miles a year .
But there again we are spending your hard earned money.
But if you as a question you are going to get so many different answers.everone is entitled to there own option on here.
If you feel comfortable with a interim service then get it done.
You can always add or take away stuff as you want to.
