  • timing belts service £700.

    Hi again everyone.

I've finally got my car booked in for a timing belt change. It is overdue, but all the local garages told me they could get the parts for it. They seem to be back in stock now and my local garage has me boooked in for next week quoted £696.68 inc VAT in the Rutland area, which seems cheap - I was expecting around the £1k mark.

It has had all recall work done and regular servicing following the Vx guidance for:- brake fluid, oil, filters etc., so just the timing belt that is overdue.

Now we are on 61k miles and 6.5 years old
    D20DTH + 6 speed manual.

    Nice One, Nathan.

I'll be getting mine done early next year (same engine), when she'll be 7 years old (currently on 53K miles).

      What about chain?
      Should it be replaced also?

Just dropped off, I put of the country for a few days making it the perfect time to be without a car.

Guy in the garage said notti do the water pump as it's direct drive and not on a belt.
Price includes chain, guides, timings belt, tensioner and aux drive belt.

I will know more when I get (it) back early next week.

It needs the aux belt replaced, as the alternator doesn't always charge the battery that well, especially when it's wet out, and the tensioner sings then it is cold.
