  • 17" tyres xl or not xl?

    Morning all,

    So bought the car in December.

    Car currently has;

    Front nearside - Goodyear Effecient Grip xl 101y

    Front offside - Uniroyal rainsport

    Rear nearside - Goodyear Effecient Grip xl 101y

    Rear offside - bridgestone er 300

    I'm looking to get the goodyear's moved to the rear axle, so I can wear the two odd tyres out and replace them with a matching pair.

    Main question being - do I need xl rated tyres when I replace? Or am I ok with non xl rated?

    I don't carry any excessive weight and the car is a 160 sri nav (hatch). 75% of miles covered are at motorway speeds. Car is on 17" alloys, 7 spoke ones.

    Thanks,

    MC

    I don't think there's much price difference so I'd go xl

      I think it affects the ride quality though. XL tyres are usually used on vans where you will be loading up half a ton or so. You'll never put that sort of weight in your car
