  • Old newbie intro

    Hi all,

Looks like a great forum with loads of contributors. Here's hoping I don't need to ask any stoopid questions

I've had a few cars over the years, did ok with diy car mechanics learning from colleagues and the hard way, then got lazy when I had a company car.

I had a 2011 2.0D siggy as a company car hand-me-down in 2012. Mostly HATED it TBH, I think it had a hard life before I got it. First time with a regular diesel turbo after driving petrol for over 25y, so in fairness stalling it repeatedly for about 6 months was partly my fault. Always struck me as unresponsive though, slow off the mark, and economy wasn't great.

I got a brand new Siggy company car in late 2015, which I've just bought from the fleet co. Best car I've ever had, totally different to the 2011 heap.

    Projects
Now it's properly 'mine' I'll be looking at fitting a little sub, and maybe retro fitting a trackpad. I'm no fan of touchscreens while on the move - I miss that centre console knob from my 2011...
I need to get the alloys restored
I need to do more detailing...

    Stuff I like
Driveability, handling, comfort, load space, economy, but still powerful enough for me.
Text lady trying to read out txts

    Stuff I don't like
Navi 900 touchscreen responsiveness and Infotainment glitches. I can play Russian Roulette reading out a text message containing emojis: it could be silent, maybe lock up or even shut down the whole infotainment system.
Poor lacquer on the alloys. Had all 4 replaced under warranty, but they look as bad now 3 years later.

    Cheers :-)

Mine's on the right, when there were a load of company Siggies. About 3 or 4 adjacent registrations.
Two of around 10 company Siggies before they finished the scheme. There were 3 or 4 adjacent registrations, but I never managed to capture more than a couple lined up :-(
