  • I would think that if the oil suction pipe was clogged up, the rest of the oil canals would also be full of crap. You might try an oil flush, but that could also be the final push the engine needs to dye completely....

Unfortunately not, as it was all covered by the warranty I never saw the bill for it. From what I understood the standard cam belt set doesn't include all rollers as they had to order this one separate....

This is how mines sounded. The dealer had replaces both auxiliary belt and timing belt, but still it came back. They even asked another customer to park it's car so they could compare. It turned out they didn't replaced all rollers during auxiliary/timing belt replacement, the part was on special order....

Did you solve the strange sound at startup when it was colder? Mines made some weird noises, took the dealer some time to figure it out. Had something to do with the timing belt rollers....

How's your back? I once was rare ended a long time ago. Car hadn't that much damage, only a mark on the number. My back and neck started to hurt a few days later. Make sure you've got on paper he hit you in case there are future medical costs related to this accident....

This is how mines looks like. It is indeed a rather large part but you won't see much of it from behind the steering wheel....

Still better then the cars were they use the plastic screen to project the HUD on. I don't think it's that ugly in the Insignia and it works very well....

Do you have a separate three button control panel for an HUD? It should be located next to the steering wheel above light controls. But I doubt you've got an HUD, mines seems to be larger....

  • Are you sure you're t engine is in good shape? I don't think the 160 hp has that much lag. You could try to find a similar car and see if that one drives the same. It's no use to tune a car that has a (hidden) issue....

replied to Best Engine Oil For High Miler...
Just use the standard oil. Shouldn't give any problems. Mines ran perfectly using the normal oil.

I would skip the one with the O2 sensor problem. Changes are the sensor isn't defect but something else. I always wonder why someone would by a new sensor and not place it. A car without engine light on will sell much easier so why not fix it before selling the car....

    replied to Mileage
There is already a thread (I've created it) which people can post there mileage. But I think you can get another 100k miles, mines did 357.000 km without any major engine or gearbox issue. And I didn't service it as well as you do, oil change every 20,000 miles when the car asked for it, never replaced...

  • I'm a bit surprised your trip counter is that high, mines seems to be reset after 10,000 km. Which is a bit bummer as I use to reset trip A after service to known when it's time to service again....

replied to In the market for an insignia
I use to have an A-Insignia SRi line-ish, I currently have a B-Insignia Elite Nav-ish. The B one is much quieter than the A one, I hardly hear the engine, only under load a bit. In the A you hear it continues. The A had the FlexRide suspension and handled really well, even after more then 200.000 miles....

replied to How much rust is too much?
Is it only the subframe or are other parts also rusted? One reason to get rid of mines was that multi fluid pipes and connectors were rusty. The ones of the automatic transmission already started to leak. And my subframe looked far better then yours....

Or the car just keep the doors locked using the deadlock system. And a nice voice saying "I'm sorry Dave, I'm afraid I can't do that" when you try to open the door...
