  • Whirring kinda noise 1.4T

    Hi all.

Not sure if it's just normal or if I'm just worrying over nothing. When I rev the car on idle slightly it makes a whirring noise kinda. Or if I start to pull away it's makes it. Not sure if it's just the engine noise as I've always had diesels and this is my first petrol.

    It's a 1.4T with 15k on clock

    Thanks

    Jonny

Mine makes weird noises like that, if you listen from outside. Sounds electric. Again i'm the same as you had diesel previously. I upload a video off mine for you to listen.

Whats the drive like for 1.4T. Pulling away from standstill and building up speed.

Not to bad actually. If you give the car some keeps revs up it's actually pretty quick. But for torque it's not good. Have to drop gears now and again up slopes etc. Very smooth though.

You must have a good one then, cos the one I test drove a few yrs ago was woeful,, needed lashing with a whip

The only thing i don't like is revving high than needed to keep up and overtake traffic, its burning more fuel to maintain pace, and also gives me impression the car has no power and needs to be worked hard. I'm always been a fan of the lazy low down pull of diesel, delivering tremendous torque low down and makes it feel its got even more above, but hey i don't rev that high so doesn't bother me its got nothing, its all the initial stage.

Exactly mate. Doesn't bother me either. I've passed the stage of power and speed now ha ha. Just what comfort.

Not other people at lights, its like a drag race, everyone is like in a hurry then it makes you feel slow as they all pulling away from lights quick.

I've always laugh at tits doing fast pull aways at the lights. They think they look good but everyone around them just think they look stupid...which they are. I always pull away from lights with a thought that some red light beater may be coming across.

The best part when someone drives off like a tit is when you tootle up along side them at the next set of lights. Where the fk did it get them?
