Just back from another test run on my second tank of V Power unleaded 99 Ron.
Keep in mind that my previous fill was mixed with remaining 7 litres of standard unleaded to the 63 litres of V power going in, therfore diluting the mix and lowering the octane somewhat on the previous tests....

They're not results of a full tank, but more a live readout of how the economy works out over the same stretch of road to make comparions using the average the car tells me. Just a way to monitor any improvements after using the redex and now taking it further running on shell v power.

1.8L VVT SRI petrol
Getting 40-45mpg cruising at 65mph.
But this is after flushing fuel system out with redex which made a huge difference. Economy was much worse and car sluggish before the treatment.
The car is now running better than it was at purchase! Pulls...

Went for another run today with more good results on Shell V Power although slightly skewed due to the windy conditions. Same long stretch of road on duel carriageway between 2 junctions. Resetting average mpg once off the roundabout at cruise control 65mph and recording final average on slow down to...

Yeah exactly. I had the exact same thing happen somebody opened their door on to mine after I'd had it about a week and it actually put a small dent in it.
But had the car since 2017 (49,000), it had the head skimmed / new head gasket and new timing kit on warranty shortly after purchase...

Damn straight. I already described it as an "abomination" myself so there's not much the haters can do to phase me! The joke's on them. If I cared about pristine perfection then I wouldn't have done anything with the car to begin with!
Yep, distinctive. I get...

Not sure if anyone's interested but..
Just got back from another test run and the car seems to be adjusting positively to the shell v power. As I said in my previous post, the car was fairing slightly worse on consumption after the initial v power fill, giving me less mpg than on standard...

Thanks! Yeah my tastes are not exactly conventional I'll admit. Yeah I've still got the alloys which I'm keeping for a while in case I have any issues with the new ones (which so far have been great - touch wood). May sell the alloys down the line as they have top notch Michelin primacy 3 rubber on...

The car has undergone something of a metamorphosis, going from a classy, sporty executive cruiser as was probably intended by the designer, to whatever ratty abomination it is now (more like something from mad max). But I love it! And it rides real nice with the fat 225/55s as opposed to the crashy...

Thanks that's some helpful info. Yeah the car is quite a heavy lump for a 1.8 and to begin with I put the sluggishness down to that and revved it hard when I needed to get it going!
It seems that the recent gains I've had are down to the redex cleaning...
