What type of journeys are you doing?
And your cone filter doesn't help with mpg. It makes mpg go down abit

Nothing wrong with the engine bay its a sign of good use

35mpg is good if its round town as my elite tourer does about 28mpg and on a run 45-50mpg with careful driving

In town and motorway...
My vectra c had 47mpg....same routes..
And cone filter was done last night...
Mpg was bad the past week....

Yeah the engine bay is very dirty....will be cleaned this week..

The vec c was amazing on fuel no matter how you drive it can't get less than 40mpg.

Right going back to your siggy, 38mpg does seem low, try removing the egr valve and give that a proper clean and once done that give your car a blast on the motorway and do a dpf force regen above 2.5k rpm for 20 mins.

The bonnet gets open once a year for mot and servicing from the previous owner
