  • Filling the Grandsport with fuel

Not keen on this new filler' in the Grandsport - does anyone else have trouble filling the car up when fully squeezing the lever on the gun? It backs up and begins chocking the neck and diesel starts spitting out, tried it all ways, and it works works when you place the nozzle in as described - ie, push it down.

    or is it just me?.....

Mines a petrol but presumably the same and don’t have an issue. Don’t try to hold the pump up but let it hang down at the back and it’s fine. There is an image on the flap of my car showing what to do.

Same issue with a Ford Transit van, have to hold the nozzle at a certain angle and so many notches in the filler,if this makes sense!

My petrol one is a bugger for clicking off when filling. Takes a while to find the right position before it fills properly.

First couple of times i filled up it was fiddly getting the right place but now i've no issues at all. Also was surprised first time i filled it up and realised it was a 50l tank instead of 70l like it was in the old one but nowt i can do about that!

From memory as been to sleep since i last filled up think its let the handle of the pump drop down at the back and also you dont need to push the nozzle in that far.

I've only filled up twice since I bought the car, but didn't notice any problems with positioning my nozzle (ooh, matron!). And yes, going from a 70l tank on a diesel to a50l on a petrol means that range on a full tank has dropped from 650 miles to around 420.

My tank's expanding! Just filled up (28 miles range showing) and it took 55.15l.

tank capacity is 62 litres,.. can only assume they took the opportunity to reduce as the adblue is 15 litres.

But why have a smaller tank on the petrol model? Where is the adblue storage in diesels?

I'm not sure it is,... my 163 CDTI A facelift had a 70 itre tank, my 170 CDTI Grandsport has 62 litres, canonly assume the ption was to reduce it due to the adblue tank,.. or,.. to keep the car lighter perhaps,.. assume petrol is the same size.
