Weird rust.

What can I do with this?

Middle of my bonnet and another one not so bad further down. Only noticed it today.

Didnt want to just start cleaning it incase it made it worse, plus I'm on the middle of a thunderstorm right now so had to bail indoors [emoji23]

Well, to me, that looks as if someone's been welding or using a grinder na your car.

Someone will correct me if I'm wrong, but I'm sure the bonnet is aluminum, the only steel part is the framework on the underside.

It's definitely rust, rough to touch.

Only thing that's been near my car is some guys cutting wooden fence posts, I haven't really been anywhere

I've just sent request for quote and photos to local guy who does smart repairs. I don't want it getting worse or something [emoji19]

Dab some clear nail varnish over it, will protect until sorted

It is rust but if you are lucky it's only iron fallout rust ( a type of surface rust on the paint). Try getting some fallout remover.

Something like this.

Don't be afraid it smells rancid and some change colour to show you that it's working.

Have to admit, looking at the pictures, I was wondering the same thing. I wouldn't be paying anybody to do anything with that before I'd tried some fallout remover or a clay bar on it myself first.

Isnt the bonnet on the Insignia A made from Aluminium????
I know the Vectra C is and lifting the Insignia bonnet, it has a similar weight to it as the Vectra C

I have some of that I bought last week, but not had the chance to use it.

I have a clay mitt I bought too....... Still haven't used that either
