  • Engine 'moaning'

    Hi Guys,

While I am looking for a good OBD2 scanner, has anyone suffered a low 'moaning/groaning' sound from the engine? It is only intermittent and can happen when driving or stationary with the engine off.
The last time time I heard a sound like this was on a car with a head gasket blown and the pressure was releasing through the radiator cap. I hope this isn't the case!!

    Cheers

If it comes from the front of the car it’s probably the turbo waste control valve, open the bonnet and it’s right at the front. Don’t by a cheap Chinese copy as a replacement as they are crap

If your not getting any errors I’d leave it, mine sounds more like a moo from a cow, normally when I open the bonnet but still goes ok

Still looking for a good OBD2 scanner so don't know if there any error codes but you are right - it does sound like a low 'moo'!

Opcom is very good, but eBay copies can be dodgy. There is someone on another form that can sort it out, I’m sure someone will be along soon to advise
