  • Service Vehicle Soon message but no fault codes ?

    Hi All,

My 63 plate diesel Insignia has started giving me the "Service Vehicle Soon" warning but with no fault codes found using the Torque pro app & OBD dongle. The warning DOES go away if I clear fault codes.

The car runs/drives/starts with no problems even when I've got the warning, I took it into my local garage they *think* it is the glow plugs.

Any ideas on diagnostics I can do before I spend a bag of cash on new bits (that may not be the fault after all )

Is your local garage a Vauxhall specialist? Maybe it needs someone with better diag equipment to take a look. There may even be someone on here with the equipment that could help.

It was my local (trusted) independent garage.

I trust my local main dealers about as far as I can throw the car, had bad dealings with them before

all depends on the diagnostic equipment being used, some wont read Vauxhall insignia codes too well

Just noticed my Stop/Start has stopped working (normally turn it off when I start the engine)

Pretty much points to a sensor problem with an (expensive) glow plug

Now just to figure out which make/type to buy.

Your stop/start not working may be a different issue, it might just be a low state of charge on the battery because of the cold weather and dark mornings so cold draining battery and lights / heaters on stopping the battery getting topped back up fully.

Hello MR Grubby , I would start with getting a better diagnostic tool .
With the SVS on it means there is a code , your local garage " thinking " it maybe glow plugs is just guessing .
Get a version of opcom .
Without codes then it's an expensive game of guess the fault.

I found an android app called scanmyopel which gave me a fault code P0673-00 which is glow plug 3 , quick check with my multimeter & it's open circuit (dead)

Just need to pop the old one out now and check it's part number before buying a new one

They've actually done work for free before so can't complain.

I'd get them to change the glow plug but as it's a 5 minute job I'd feel a bit useless
