All cars petrol or diesel have issues. All il say is if you do low milage maybe look at a petrol, or be prepared to give a big diesel a good run once a week.

My Vectra diesel was faultless, my mondeo diesel had injector issues, turbo hoses issues, Peugeot diesel was fine, citreon was OK, River was ok
Is that where the Citroen ended up then???
    In the river .

No checked wiring loads of times. It comes on for 30 seconds or so, goes off then does it again a few minutes later. I know car starts regen, goes lumpy, mpg drops, smells burny .

Would have thought if not doing or completing after 6k I'd have had issues by now.

                    I agree.
I used to watch the top consumers menu for the demister (plus be alert for the subtle signs such as change in engine note, slight reduction in engine power, big drop in real-time mpg display etc) and the longest interval between regens that I noticed with my ex-Astra 2.0CDTi was about 1000 miles. Shortest was 50 miles. Average was probably 400 miles.

Never had a diesel before so spoke to a mechanic about running costs etc. He said don't buy an Insignia... Loads of issues especially with diesel (software), very expensive to repair. I don't know if he was referring to earlier models which have had issues that are sorted in the 15 plate facelift? I know mechanics have different views on cars and what goes wrong with them. There are obvious running costs with any car but don't want to buy into unnecessary costs due to a car's design. I've not had a Vauxhall since the Cavalier. Having driven the Insignia it seems such a nice car and there doesn't seem to be anything to touch it in terms of value for the spec in its class. Any balanced views would be greatly appreciated.
Going to look at the car again at the weekend. Are there any particular things I need to look out for on the 15 plate CDTi 2L diesel.... Issues they are prone to? Thanks

Have a look in filler flap it could have the "add blue system" Blue cap is the give away if its got it its a euro 6 engine. I would also double check on the cost of road tax there is alot of prices for what seems like same car, mine a late 2015 Euro 6 2 ltr is £155.
