I think it's because it is only a problem since they're using such high pressures to inject the diesel. With the old indirect injected diesels, no harm is done when there is some petrol in the diesel. There is a youtube clip where they put petrol in an old Astra 1.7 diesel, which runs perfectly. Putting diesel in a petrol car use cause much more trouble as a petrol car can't run on diesel.
Only since the common rail diesels it's very bad to put petrol in a diesel.

        Petrol pump has thinner nozzle..
I believe it's due to a petrol can run with diesel mix and smokes really bad. Don't quote me on it though

Yep, hence its got a Diesel label on the cap opening on some cars.

I used a company called fuel fixers, it cost me £270 total they came to my workplace sucked all the tank dry, then sucked the petrol from the rails via a pipe in the engine then filled it with diesel. i suppose i could of got it done cheaper had i shopped round and i was not in a position to take it on myself. the car actually seems better for it

£270 is a good price to pay, considering they fixed your car and they came out to you at your workplace, so no need take time off work, very convenient.

I had a alloy key nut removal guy came to my workplace, very convenient service.

I can only wish such thing as mobile garages exist for mot and service to be done at your home or workplace. And I'm not talking about ClickMechanic, I'm talking about a mini truck/big van with a built in mobile ramp they can work underneath your car.

We have a company at work that manage our fleet, mobile mechanics do everything at our depot from tyre changes to services and mot. They did brakes all round in a caddy including a seized caliper in under an hour. Very good and efficient people. Don't know what we pay, won't be chesp as they also provide an app for reporting faults, weekly checks etc.
