Ive always used Mobil 1 ESP 0W40 in my A20DTR. Its Dexos 2. Change every 30k kms, 19k miles, which is every 8 months for me. Oil at change is always fresh looking - never black. Engine on 286k kms 179k miles now. 0W40 is specified in my service book but it seems to have been dropped on later BiTurbos in favour of 5W40.

Its one of the most confusing things in this modern world just wish we could go back to the times when it was Castrol GTX or Duckhams (green) job done.

I always use the proper GM/Vauxhall 5w30 dexos 2 stuff, I only ever use genuine Vauxhall oil filters too.

Ended up with a Mann oil filter and Shell Helix Ultra, missed dealers opening times for genuine parts.

Can you say they are made to the same specification and standard for oem as their aftermarket range though?

Well when you get them out of the box they say Mann not GM and they look exactly the same

my son had a short spell working for a brake pad company,,,TMD friction theyre called....when the brake pads come down the line,,,some are branded with the motor manufacturers logo, some are branded pagid, eicher, delphi etc,,,,,they all come down the same line ,,so these pads are all the same, except for manufacturers logo, and the most annoying,,,difference in price,,so I imagine filters are the same,so it knocks all this crap about manufacturers oem parts out the window imo

this companys other branch in ,I think, York, even brands brake pads for Brembo,,a global giant,in braking
