best to pop it in the tank every 1 in 4 as the fuel is made for high performance cars, i just pop the ordinary shell/esso/bp??in mine keep away from crap supermarket fuel, there just not refined.

Now I've gone to the dark side of the pump,I'd like to know if shell v makes a differance.

As now I use a total garage,it's the closest.

Sorry to resurrect an ancient post but put a tank of this in my cdti (170) yesterday.

First few miles it felt a bit lumpy to be honest. After 40 miles or so though the car has transformed. It’s smoother revving and feel noticeably quicker. Almost revs like a petrol and I’m easily getting 5mpg more even with more hard accelerations. My guess is it’s due to the cleaning properties of the fuel but I guess the only way to tell would be to try standard again and see if it’s still as good. I’ve never noticed a difference with premium fuels before this whatsoever.

We've always used Shell V-Power Nitro + in our DS3 DSport plus. Next week we are changing it for an Hyundai i20 1.0t, should we continue to use the same fuel?

I notice that Shell V-Power unleaded at 99 RON octane is now sold at a 9p per litre premium at my local garage, compared to standard Shell unleaded 95 RON octane. Tesco's momentum 99 RON is at 5p per litre premium to standard Tesco 95 RON. Is the Shell premium fuel and/or the Tesco premium fuel worth the extra? This is a lot of money if you are filling a large tank.

I have been trying to decide whether my C-reg Mercedes-Benz 220D, extremely well looked after by a Mercedes specialist family in West Hampstead, would benefit from using Shell V-power diesel. Cost would rocket, but would it be worth it?

Placebo effect,,it's snake oil imo,,you feel the need to be positive after you've paid X amount extra per litre for it.,driven diesels since the late 80s on cheapest fuel possible and have yet to encounter a fuel related problem

I was completely with you until this time. I expected it to be money wasted (only tried it because I had a voucher to use which made it only a fraction more expensive). I’m very surprised.

might have to fill my car up to see if i get some better MPG out of it
upcoming mods: led lights (interior and license plate)- on their way, de-badge front grill, new rims, new audio unit, mud flaps

I do it every now and again as they have a few extra cleaning additives etc... never really noticed any difference though myself, although heard if you thrash you motor you’ll get a bit more out of it, i don’t though so i fill up with it 1-10 tanks just to help clean the engine

If you go on their web site it tells you.
Super unleaded has more octane so more bang.

Diesel has more cleaning additives and that's it.
Nothing to increase performance or mpg, they claim it makes your engine last longer.

It also states that the cleaning additives help clean the engine of carbon deposits allowing it to perform as it should. I wasn’t arguing it makes the car faster than stock but faster than when I first picked it up which is why I suggested it was due to the cleaning properties.

On saying that I have read elsewhere that in independent tests premium diesel has a higher level of combustion compared to regular diesel which again is better than supermarket diesel but how true that is I don’t know.

A cleaner engine will give you better combustion, hence better emissions and increased power will it not?

I've just bought some of this for a Vectra 1.9CDTI 150 that I use for work. Supposed to work just like the Shell V-Power but at a fraction of the cost

Diesel fuels have differing cetane ratings too.
