  • Genuine Insignia subwoofer unit

I've never seen these before and not sure how or where they fit, but could be a tidy retro fit for someone if it's possible...

I believe they fit in the boot, just behind the seats and before the spare wheel.

Wouldn't that need some sort of specialist floor raisers too?

Not sure if that's exsactly how its meant to be fitted, maybe the bose sound system upgrade comes with a slightly lifted carpet?

It was from a 2012 vehicle so wouldn't be Bose, it would be the Infinity system

Do you know what stereos they were an optional upgrade for? Like is the connection available on the back of the radio or was it a specific loom they came with?

I knew about the sub in the boot,,,greenbear is right it sits on boot floor directly behind seats then you need another floor riser to equal out the floor,,,,I could be wrong but think the Bose upgrade just applies to the speakers ,not the actual head unit,,,can remember looking at a siggy with the infinity sound system, but it still had a navi 600

Infinity is on preface. Boss is on facelift. I know the infinity system has a standard size amplifier in the boot, but the boss system i do not know, there will definately be an upgraded amplifier as well as speakers.

Does anyone know how to remove a genuine Bose sub-woofer from Insignia face-lift hatchback?
I would like to increase my trunk size temporary in order to place twin stroller in trunk.

I successfully removed subwoofer from trunk and got around 10cm in depth over all surface of the trunk.
I'll make a video of how I did it, but for now here is short explanation.
The trunk carpet is glued to a board, that is attached to the BOSE speaker box with Velcro tape. So you can first remove board from BOSE box, just pull the board in order to detach it from BOSE speaker box, and than remove the carpet from the board (you'll have to glue it again if you want to put it back in place). You can do this other way around of course.
The BOSE speaker box is attached with two screws. After removing them you just need to unplug the connector of the speakers and that's all.

After I did this I realized that I actually have one speaker in the trunk and that the quality of sound is almost the same. At least in drivers seat.

Not sure how good I explained it here but when I make video it will be easier to understand. The point is that process is pretty straightforward and easy. Anybody can do this.
