  • Steering problem!!

Hi, Here's hoping that there are some helpful experts on here willing to part with advice
Usually a lurker on these forums.....silently picking up good bits of advice! I have noticed a problem with my 12 plate 2.0 diesel - power steering! Went to drive it today and the steering seems heavier and the car feels like its running on flat tyres! I have a 2012 2.0 Ecoflex. Checked pressures - all now at 34, tyres are good and belt has been checked. It is still heavy and the steering wheel 'jerky' as if it wants to be in a position where the wheels are kept straight! Tracking done and am now at a loss..... here's hoping that its not the electronic steering, will need to re-mortgage
    Any advice gratefully received

Can you take a picture of your whole engine bay? We know for shall if this has electric or hydraulic steering. The hydraulic are prone to leaking from the pipes which then drips on to the dpf and can catch fire.

I have the electric rack too and as far as I know the steering rack has a torque sensor and an input from vehicle speed sensors to regulate input. Either could be at fault but if speedo ABS etc working ok I think it may be torque sensor? Just a steer (sorry for the pun), look into it more before going any further. I have had no issues touch wood.

Sorry to jump onto this thread but I have the same symptoms. Been charged a lot of money to have the motor on my rack reconditioned, was fine for a few days then went back to normal. Did you have an luck ?
