Anyone know if I can plug in a USB camera into the USB port without damaging the electrics. Will it work. I have navi 900 on a 2016 model. Anyone tried this.

What do you mean by a USB camera? An in car cam or a normal camera to charge? What do you want to do with it?

    Welcome to the forum btw

Hi, ordinary usb computer camera, power from its usb. Just thought could use it through media selection as a reversing camera. Seamed like a simple solution rather than trying to rewire into back of navi. Thanks

I dont think the system will recognise it as a video input buddy.. The USB normally only does file reading/transfer and charging

Thanks for your help. Think you might be right, can't really see that this would upset the electronics. It will either recognise it or not. Would have been a simple way out for me though. Was a bit dubious at plugging it in but will try anyway. Hey-ho.....nothing ventured!....Will update you though of the outcome. Cheers

Hi, yes you were right. Navi 900 does not recognise a usb camera, although the power light on the cam comes on. Guess the system does not have the installed drivers for the cam. No damage to the electrics so it is back to the drawing board for me at getting a reversing camera installed. Thanks for your assistance.

Hi, I have a 1.6 Vauxhall Insignia CDTI Estate 2016. I have parking sensors all round. Anyone know of an easy way to fit a reversing camera without pulling the dash out and does anyone know how to lower the volume of the parking sensors. Doing my head in. Cheers all

I have a mobile broadband wi-fi dongle plugged into my USB and it works fine doesn't come up as media on the intellink. Don't know whether it would power a camera though.

Hi, thanks. Have tried the camera, and although it powers up it is not recognised. Possibly because the system does not have the drivers. Havn't given up yet. Cheers

Hi, thanks for that. Don't suppose you have the link for that, or tell what search I type into eBay. I have a camera that attaches to the inside mirror and records front and back, but there are cables everywhere. Wireless sounds like an option. Cheers
