  • Humming Noise

    Hi all,

Ever since I bought my car a few months ago (2012 opel insignia select with 65000km) I noticed an odd humming noise (regardless of rpm the sound does not change). It was used for city driving before I got it and when I first picked it up this humming noise would happen quite often.

Now that I have had it a while though driving it daily (fairly rural driving so a consistent speed for 20-30 minutes at a time) it has decreased in frequency.

I have tried to take a video of the noise but it did not work out. So my question is does anybody have or have you had this humming sound in your car?

What do you think it could be a water pump? The DPF?

    Thanks for your help.

    Sorry, totally unhelpful answer:

Do you think it is humming because it is happy?

Sounds like a split hose maybe? Quite common on the Insignia.

Agree split hose or solenoid valve
The hose is on the passenger's side of the engine bay near the battery. And so is the solenoid valve

There is an aftermarket for this item. Not sure if this is the one but check it out.

                          Thank you and God Bless.

seems that item you have listed is not compatible with a 2012 insignia
