No need to do it. Some people who have had a remap have had a bigger intercooler fitted (CliveSRI) and others have added some air intakes pipes in lower vent. (Russ)

i think the limiting factor in the insignia is the amount of torque the gearbox can handle, no point upgrading everything else when it will only break the gearbox faster

So are you saying that upgrading the air intake is a bad idea?

Changing the grill to allow more air surely wont cause problems?

its not a bad idea but the turbo is providing enough air to the engine, any extra boost will be vented unless you have a remap telling the cars ecu to put more air and fuel in the engine
on NA engines you put the air in and the ecu tells the car how much fuel to add
with turbo engines the ecu decides what to put in within the capabilities of the turbo, injectors, fuel pump etc
a car is only as good as its weakest link

you wouldnt put a bluray player on an old school crt tv

It's not a bad idea no. If you can do it, it will Benefit the car. Changing grill won't cause any problems at all. Plenty of people have done it

Having a forward facing air intake highers the risk of water intake . Water intake can destroy the engine.
