I was looking for a wheel cleaner that can quickly and effectively remove all dirt off my wheels
I do a lot of miles and my wheels get dirty and coated in brake dust very quickly and as I'm always busy with work I don't have time to regularly clean the wheels so any brake dust gets baked on
Now to the point of acidic wheel cleaners, these are great for cleaning wheels but everyone says it will eat your wheels and melt your eyebrows
Here's the truth, it won't, these are perfectly safe and I will explain why
The pH scale is used to show how hydrogen ions are donated and received (in simple terms, i could give a chemistry lesson but i wont)
The scale goes from 0 strong acid - 7 neutral - 14 strong base/alkali
The example i will be using is Megs wheel brightener, this has a pH of 5.5, now to put this into context
pH 2 is lemon juice
pH 3 is orange juice
pH 4 is tomato juice or acid rain
pH 5 is black coffee
pH 6 is urine or milk
pH 7 is pure water
So Megs Wheel Brightener sits between black coffee and your piss of the pH, yes its an acid, but a very very weak one, it is also diluted 10:1 - 4:1 depending of soiling of the wheels
Now if rain water sitting on your wheels all night doesn't melt your wheels, neither will the wheel cleaner
In fact its safer to wash the rain water off your car with the wheel cleaner
