  • Problems with my Radio Reception on Insignia 2011 Model

My Radio Reception seems very poor on my Sino Smart Unit since i fitted a Shark Fin to the Roof?

I have a 2011 Model Sri which didnt have DAB, Sat Nav, Dvd, Bluetooth etc thats why i bought a Sino Smart Unit as i travel alot.

Could anybody give me some advice on this and could i get a DAB Add On as i have seen people saying you can get External DAB fitted to Non Dab Radios is this anygood?

    Thanks in Advance.

You haven't by any chance got a USB charger plugged in anywhere? I ask because I have one & no matter where I plug it in I get a really bad DAB signal. If I unplug the USB charger the signal gets alot better!

I was just about to put a post up regarding poor DAB reception and seen this, I've got the navi 900 and headunit in my 2016 ST but find my DAB signal drops a lot. Ithought it was just where I stay( north Glasgow) but I did notice that when my USB phone charger was plugged in the signal seemed to be worse Think I'll need to get on to Vauxhall and see if there's anything to sort it thead

It tends to be due to the quality of the USB charger as much as anything else. Presume some have better shielding or something like that.

Anything plugged into the 12v connection or wired into there? Doesnt have to be a USB charger or alike but anything plugged in could cause the issue.

I used to have a phone holder in my old Focus ST170 that was plugged into the 12v port and charged the phone, held it and acted as an FM transmitter to play music on the car stereo...after a while i couldnt actually listen to anything via it if i was charging the phone at the same time.

I shall be watching this post with interest to see if anyone comes up with a solution. I actually have 2 USB chargers one with 1 USB socket & one with 2 sockets. The one with 1 socket doesn't seem to cause the problem with my DAB reception, it's the one with 2 sockets, a 1 amp & a 2 amp socket, doesn't even need anything plugged into it!

Please everybody read my post carefully as my Car hasn't DAB RADIO so this topic is NOT for DAB RADIO!

No i havent anything plugged in at all and was just wondering if anybody have had Poor Radio reception before and had to check under roof lining were aerial base is near hatchback? As i think its Only the DAB Radio that has the Aerial Amplifier in Window doesnt it.

Is there a way i could take it to Radio Centre Specialist and check Reception?

                  Kind Regards Gareth.

Check voltage from alternator when signal drops.

Hi guys, new to the forum. I have a 2013 pre-facelift ST SRI with a Navi 600. Recently I've noticed that my FM signal has deteriorated. Suggestion is that, as mentioned above, my aerial amplifier might have failed.
Do any of you guys know where to find this? I can't see it anywhere obvious.
Also if it's behind the tailgate trim, what's the best way to get at it.
                            Any help would be appreciated.
                            Cheers
