  • Vibration?

Recently been on the motorway and I like to open the car up and do anything between 80-100 mph when I can get away with it, I've noticed that since my wife bumped the wheel on a kerb and blew a tyre that there is vibration coming up through the steering wheel. I think this has happened only since having a new tyre.

Is it a balancing issue? It's very noticeable when reducing speed without breaking from 90 down to 65 but as soon as I accelerate back to 70 it goes away until I reach 75 again.

I hope it's not something major.

You could try swapping the wheel with one at the back before paying out. If it goes away it most likely needs re balancing. Its not uncommon for a wheel to need re balancing again. It might be worth taking it to a different place too. Is it a decent tyre or budget?

I have no idea. My wife called the garage next door to where I work. They supply tyre for all our coaches so the invoice would have gone through my work, I don't have to pay VAT on it then. My boss pays and I pay him back. It's convenient. I don't think it would have been balanced as I assume they don't have the facility to do that when they get called out. I'll check with them later as they do balancing and tracking. If not. I'll take it to where I bought the car.

Just hope that it's not a bent drive shaft.

          Sounds like a balancing issue,

If you swap it with the rear then you should still feel it but it will be more through your seat,

All sorted now. Thanks guys. Had it balanced and laser tracked. Did 120 on the motorway, no problems.

I think the standards are set so high nowadays because of CGI and stuff. We look back at those films and think they were great. The younger generation don't appreciate them as much because seen through a HD telly and without CGI it looks grainy and old.
