  • Batteries in wheel sensors

Now I am assuming that the sensors have batteries in them otherwise they would not work. Should the batteries be changed at each tyre change or when?

Also anyone know the battery type. Shall be fitting new tyres soon and thought 'have batteries ready so they can be changed when the tyres are being fitted.

    How do they fit?

asked the same question when getting the front tryes replaced

and they told me you have to replace the whole sensor i think i'd read somewhere there about £50 then you have to get them to take the tyre off to fit

Never had to replace a sensor when changing tyres. Your tyre fitter must be heavy handed. You only need to reset computer to check tyre pressures

Obviously, your batteries have not gone flat yet.

Cannot understand the 'tyre fitter must be heavy handed' bit.

Haha. Misread post thought you meant you had to fit new sensors everytime you fit tyres. Heavy handed is a Scots thing means clumsy, rough workmanship.

the seals on the sensor can be replaced if it leaks air
batteries should last 5-6 years, but if you do a lot of miles they will run out faster
old style sensors would corrode but they new style are better

i have one thats corroded and one with a battery fault, annoying that its something you cant change yourself as the tyre needs to come off
