It's quite possible that the firmware in your radio was upgraded during the service visit.
I wasn't able to use 2017/2018 maps on my navi600 2012/MY2013 running ver v176, I was getting intermittent "SD card error" and "Navigation initializing" errors. Firmware upgrade has sorted it.
In 2014 GM released firmware upgrade for navi600/900: Catalogue Number: Software CD; Version 2014/V2.0 13490275 17 79 534

Burn the ISO files to a CD-R or CD-RW, not a DVD disc.
Use a good quality disc and set the burner as low a speed as possible. Recommended speeds are x1 and x4. I've done mine at x16 and it went OK.

I updated the maps on mine when I had it ended up costing £200 to do so be aware
2014 model with intelli link 900 .
I bought the usb from VX nav site which is actually Here maps in Nederland that cost £125 .
Then tried to install in the car and got a message up saying invalid update , to cut a long story short I contacted here and VX and was told the car needed to be checked for an update this cost £69 at VX then still would not load so in contact with here again who wanted the map back to check so another £20 to send back to them , a new usb sent out and this worked straight away .
So really if you want to update a facelift with Navi 900 it will cost you £125+ £69 to update
