For years I have always put my Motor away in the garage at night, it's one of the questions my insurance ask on renewal, and anyway what's a garage for? Now talking to a lad at work, he tells me "you should never put a car in a garage, because it'll never dry out and rot quicker". Anyone else think the same?

Agree, total tosh. I'd love a garage. And shame on all you who have one and fill it full of junk then park outside!

Not complete tosh! It depends on how long it's in the garage for and how good ventilation is. Picked up a car from a customer's house who had had a stroke and couldn't drive for months. All seats and interior dash etc were green mould brake pads rusted onto discs and had eaten them away where they touched had to fit new discs. Garage was nearly airtight. But if you use car everyday it should be fine 😁

Ah yeah but that's an exception....under normal use its total tosh. It's always better to get a car out of the elements. I suspect that car would have also been suffering a lot of those problems if it were parked outside for months. One of the cars at work very rarely gets used now and that sits in the garage. Not months though...usually 2 or 3 weeks. It's still happier in the garage than the two that live outside.

If a car is going to be laid up for a long period. Inside or outside. The correct storage procedure should be followed to minimise mould and decay.

            This is me

Although I doubt I could fit the car in anyway, most garages are too tight for modern cars

Same here...had a garage as part of our extension but never put the cars in it, basically just useful storage for a variety of things. As you say not a chance I’d fit the Insignia in anyway...in fact not sure the Astra would fit in either. Main issue is the doors where it’s quite narrow before it widens after about 2ft.

Not so fussed for a garage but would love a car port, has all the advantages of sheltering from the elements without the faff of opening and closing doors

Put motor in here have about 9" either side of door mirrors. It's unusual for it to stay in for more than a day. As I drive down the street people with double garages are so full they have a job to open the doors, then there are motors parked on the path, because there is no room.

I've got a double garage. Some stuff in it but plenty of room for the Insignia. I never put it in there though - I want it on the drive (reverse parked) so I can just nip out, jump in and drive off. It's a car not a baby.

I always used to put my VECTRA in the garage, but as said , most garages will not fit an INSIGNIA in. Mine won’t, was gutted when I first got the car that it wouldn’t go in the garage, but have now learned to live with it.
