  • Had a look at timing belt and radiator for high pressure turbo, can it be cleaned

Took a bit of quality time with my insignia today. Whipped off wheel arch liner/auxilary belt/ upper timing belt cover and off side engine mount to have a good look at the timing belt. The tensioner pointer was pointing down, almost on the stop. Is this just due to the belt stretching over time? I tigntened it so the pointer is at the mark. I meant to take a before photo but forgot.
The rad for the water-cooled inter-cooler is completely blocked up with fine grit from the road. Is there a way to clean the rad without damaging the fins? A pressure washer would wreck it.

If I even touch the fins with a light finger they bend, grit is well stuck on. Maybe take it off and soak it for a day or too. Bit of a stupid place, in front of the wheel arch, to put it to be honest, all the crud is on the wheel side, with slots in the wheel arch liner to allow ventilation allowing all the crap in.

An air compressor would do as much if not more damage , you are probably right take it off and soak it to loosen it up then run water through it backwards under a tap with it turned down low to stop it doing any damage

Gave her a wash tonight. A rare occurrence for me.
