  • Red Light Camera

Just went through a red light camera.
Totally my fault. My dash camera shows me clearly going through on red.

How do you think this will affect my insurance at the next renewal?

Was you caught doing this or expecting a letter in the post?

Think yourself lucky it was clear to go through, and wait for the letter.

I realised i did it as i went through the camera. Played back my dash cam video, caught me bang to rights.

Just waiting for the letter now. No question, i am guilty.

If you have been caught I think it's the usual 14 day notification like speeding offences. Time to cross off the days on the calendar.

you might be lucky and get away with it, or they might offer you the red light camera course if its your first offence of this kind
you still pay the fine as an admin fee but do the course instead of getting the points

Interesting, i didn't know there was a redlight course.
I thought it only applied to speeding offences.

Yer there’s one for red light offences, which would save your points and make you loose the will to live for a few hours.

If it is an old camera then you might be lucky and just got a flash. My uncle used to service speed cameras and said many of them will still flash even if the film is not fitted. However, if it is a more modern digital camera then the chance of it not recording an image are slim.
