  • Low oil and oil level

    Low oil and oil level.
Hi guys, check oil warning popping up sometimes, oil level is very high, no loss of water, no apparent mixing of oil and water and nobody has put extra oil in, I replaced the oil cooler about 5 months ago due to water oil mix and the rocker cover gasket due to leaking outwards and in to the spark plug housing, every thing has been fine since then.
    Any ideas please.

A number of failed DPF regenerations will dump fuel into the oil sump causing the oil level to rise. If this is the case the quality of the oil will be poor from the diesel mixed in so it will require changing. It is also known to harden the oil pickup seal in the sump causing the bottom end bearings to sieze

Hi thanks for the reply, I should have said it's a 1.8 petrol.
Had it running up to temperature, doth top and bottom hoses are hot so is the water in the header tank.
Also noticed that the engine appears to pressurize, if I remove the dipstick the engine note changes, don't know if that is normal for this model.

Okay, I haven't heard of this problem on the 1.8 Insignia but there is a similar thread on the VauxhallOwners forum about a Vectra C 1.8. May help???

That was very interesting, apparently you should check the oil 5mins after stopping the engine! some say it's petrol from an injector, there's no smell of petrol so don't think it's that plus it runs on LPG most of the time.

Thinking about it there is a lot of water coming out of the exhaust but LPG does that. wonder if it is pressurising is that what is pushing the oil up the dipstick?
