  • Smelling Screen wash

I've started to notice a 'stagnant water' smell when i use my screen washers, has anybody else noticed this ? and how do i go about cleaning the washer bottle out without having to strip the front of my car ?

is it possible it put a drop of bleach into the bottle and flush it through ? or do i risk staining/marking the scuttle panel ?

I often wondered about if it would be safe to put some APC through the system to clean it and then add a decent screenwash with mine as I have noticed less pressure on one side of mine and a wee bit of a smell as well

Yeah a sterilizer will be safer. I wouldn't risk bleach even in small amounts. Once you have cleaned it only use decent screen wash. I stay away from the cheap ones because they tend to turn smelly. Also if you don't use it very often, Flush it periodically and let it overflow with clean water then just add a small amount of concentrated screen wash.

If you have a hose pipe will it not fit in the filler hole if it does push it right in and turn it on and let it over flow .
I use Perstone ? Screen wash usually get it from Costco or if I run out of that the halfords stuff has always been good .
Now and again I do throw in a baby bottle sterilising tablet and it has never done any harm to the car .but saying that when I had the Insignia I was filling the washer bottle once a week and the Pathfinder is about the same .
Both have headlight washers so they do use a lot
