  • Two problems with my '15Siggy

    First post!

    Hi guys,

I recently bought a 2015 Vauxhall Insignia and during the test drive I felt the drivers chair move. Told the seller about it which he witnessed. 3 weeks on and I own the car and the chair moves quite often, the base and backrest move forwards and backwards, even more so when I move in the chair. Pushing backwards into the seat causes the chair to move forwards but it always stops at the same point and doesn't move forward anymore. Has anyone encountered this problem before or know how to fix it?

My other issue is that the outside temperature is no longer displayed, or is displayed as --, I believe this started happening after the battery went flat.

    Thanks in advance.

    Jack

EDIT, drivers seat is fully electric.

    Welcome to the forum!

Unsure on your seat issue, have you checked the handle that makes it move?

The outside temperature sensor is on the bottom grille on the front bumper.

You'll have to check if the wire has come loose. Try disconnecting the battery or buy a new sensor.

Thanks for reply Lewish, I forgot to mention that its an electric chair.

I will take a look a the temperature sensor.

Edit: Had a look for the temperature sensor and its clearly visible from the outside, however its almost impossible to view behind it without removing something.

If the seat is fully electric, then I believe you have got an Elite. Try resetting the seat to where you want it to be, then press and hold the memory button along with button 1 or button 2 at the same time. So then the memory should be set.
LED interior lights. Chrome mirror caps & door handle covers. LED reverse light bulbs. Pedal box. Atomic Alloys. Steel Structure spare wheel. Boot floor risers. Rear exit exhaust & rear valance. M Y ‘15’ front grille.

Thought I would update this post as it appears to be fixed, hopefully for good.

After giving it back to the garage to fix it, they gave it back with the lead tech saying he was 99.9% certain it was a setting so he reset everything. Didn't believe me when I told him that I tried everything. Got the car back, lo and behold the seat continued to move.

Got it booked back in, this time the tech took the vehicle home for the weekend, where he not only managed to experience the seat moving on its own, but managed 170 miles, returned it with less fuel and to top it off a broken seat back protector, only a few quid on ebay but the monetary value isn't the point.

Anyway, something about a broken cable which has now been fixed/replaced, not sure which, but i imagine a bit of electrical tape was used. Missus has picked it up and its not moved just yet. Fingers crossed!

Not happy with the overall service from Perrys of Huddersfield, especially when the fault was present when I test drove it.

The thing is with this kind of issue is the technicians are given so little time to find faults. They shouldn't be taking it home for the weekend. Enough time should be given to find the fault in the working day. Hopefully it's sorted.

They where definitely going to fix it this time as I threw the 'If you dont fix it this time im entitled to a refund' card at them.

Going to complain about mileage, fuel and broken seat back protector. Not to mention the 80 miles of fuel its cost to take the car and forth twice.
