While I see your point and completely agree, I wouldn't be driving around with a seat that would put my wife's life at danger by doing some botched job and would obviously ensure it was completely solid.

In saying that, it doesn't look likely, and I might actually be better off sourcing a front passenger seat with the comfort pack from a donor car and retrofitting it, or just living with it.

    Thanks everyone!

To be honest your question has not been asked before. Your wife must well tall. Get her to drive your car then you could seat in passenger seat. Job done .

Until it has been tested you don't know how safe it would be, hence car manufacturers do rigurous tests to ensure their cars are safe.

She's not particularly tall (around 5'10/11), we both just like to sit really low!

I do see your point, and appreciate you may be right regarding the safety front.

To be honest, I was kinda hoping that there were multiple fixing points on the seat or even some kind of rails that the seat attaches to, and moves up and down when the ability to change it is there. I'd have thought the same seats would be used regardless of whether or not the passenger comfort pack was present and my car was simply missing the electrical gubbins used to raise/lower it etc etc. I will be honest though, ive no idea how the seat is attached underneath. It would be handy to see a comparison between one with the comfort pack, and one without to understand how it's actually raised and lowered. Could always compare the drivers seat and passenger seat to have a look.

          EDIT
It does look like there are adjustable bases available. You're looking at replacing the entire base and reusing existing cushions/backs etc. I guess it's something I need to have a chat with a dealer about. RIP my wallet for something that's just "annoying". First world problems !

Well these are all certainly solutions I guess... my favourite is just cutting a hole in the seat.

Are you sure you have checked every handle, knob etc. Took me over a month to realise I had four more settings. My other half also said seat was horrible until she googled how to move everything

My new ones have electric button to move up and down. Old one had a lever bit like a handbrake and you could adjust using that.

I will have a check again. But I'm pretty sure there's absolutely bugger all there apart from the lever for the back.

You could try breakers over the water for a drivers seat from LH drive car then all functions should be same as Rh drive you might not have all wiring in your car but with bit of temp wiring it could be just lowered to where you need it then wiring remove.

Take a picture of the side of the seat and post it here

I'll pop a picture up but can guarantee there's nothing there. Had a good look.

Would a new seat include the base? Looks like it's the mechanism under the seat that holds it to the chassis/rails that differs. The seat itself is just the seat.

Cheers exclusiv. I'll have a look around eBay. This would probably be the best solution here by the looks of it.

Seems to be hard to find ones that are facelift though, plenty pre facelift. Not sure if they are interchangeable. Looks like some of them have just a manual mechanism which would be ideal as well and would be a straight swap.

A lot of them are absolutely disgusting looking though!
