Hi, I had a full sealed bottle of Redex diesel cleaner in the boot, this morning my girlfriend had smelt a fuel smell in the car and we thought it might be an injection seal had gone or something, something in the boot must have fell on the Redex bottle as it had a little slit in the bottom of the bottle about half of the redex was gone from the bottle, when i lifted the bottle it was just dripping out the bottom of the bottle.
This now leaves a couple of issues which i hope someone can help with:
The spill seems to be confined to the immediate left of the boot, a bit of the bottom of the boot carpet had some on and some had slid down below the carpet and a bit of the underneith had a bit of still wet redex on, we have wiped this with a damp cloth, but is that safe and would it be a high fire risk, would it still be flammable etc?
The other question is the smell, the car now stinks of it, we are not really in an area where i would be happy leaving the windows open for a long time which ideally we probably need to do, but how will we get rid of the smell if we can't let the car air by leaving the windows open? Would i be best getting a new boot bottom (carpet) or whatever its called, and how much would one be roughly? or is there any other way i could get rid of the smell quickly?
Regards
James
