The other thing to consider here is if there is little chance of proving someone else did it, is it worth leaving insurance out of it. You know what they're like hiking the prices up after a claim. And if rumour is to be believed, just calling them over something like this even if you don't proceed with a claim also marks you as a higher claim risk in the future.

Again, thanks for the comments. Police have been informed, not going through insurance, so it ends here. I am sure something will happen to his car one day, I believe in Karma (and I have a long memory).

Time to move on, I won't return to this post, thanks again.

Don’t get your hopes up about getting CCTV...I’m in the middle of a claim following a bump my wife had with a guy in an Evoque back in July. They were leaving a petrol station onto a dual carriageway and he can round the front of the building as my wife came round from the back. No markings on the exit from the forecourt as to who had right of way so initially my Insurance were saying 50/50. They then advised the garage CCTV caught the incident but after two months the garage are refusing to release the footage hiding behind data protection. My insurance have now said they will try to get 50/50 but are saying the photos suggest it was my wife’s fault so we may have to take full responsibility which is a joke. It was our front drivers corner against his side but all that could say is, as what happened, he’s fine barrelling our too fast without looking and my wife brakes but couldn’t stop in time.

It's high time car makers incorporated a system as an option.
Top gear mag had a citroen with it factory fitted, they caught a few things on it when the car was being 'serviced'.

True. Pheasant ran out in front of Astra, I rang, reported and started the claim procedure. Never even got call from garage so I gave up. Next renewal premium went up £400 and I have full protected no claims. Cancelled policy and went elsewhere only to be told I'd lied on application. Turns out the claim I never made was on history as a full claim.

I suppose all depends how bad it is, if a small car park ding etc then maybe I would just bite the bullet and get it done myself but if worse I would defo contact insurance.

My last 2 were bad, one was a numpty with an illegal trailer reversed with a steel beam on trailer, straight through front of car, bumper, intercooler radiator etc, got the car back and 7 days later another numpty stopped and reversed on a roundabout.

My lovely new bumper perfectly painted and front wing, driveshaft etc damaged, they drove off too, so I feel your pain.

Luckily for me the dash cam and witnesses saved the day cost the person quite a bit as car went to Audi to be fixed along with loss of earnings, cost them thousands via insurance, so theirs will get a nice big hike renewal time.

I drive all day for a living and so know how many A holes are out there.

See old dears fire me the prong on a regular, people are tossers, will lie etc just to save their skin.
