Personally I'd replace but that's because it would live in my mind until I knew it was sorted. Take it to a tyre shop and ask just for peace of mind if nothing else.Comment

I had exactly the same on my red, the vauxhall dealer said it was only a tyre protection trim and glued it back on. I wasn't sure about this so took it to two different test centres and they confirmed only protection purposes in case you clip a pavement etc.. Hope that helpsComment

That part of the side wall is the "rim protector" (think it needs a new name) and is extra thick for this purpose. glue it down and you will be fine!sigpic
