  • Newbie from Lincoln

    Hi all,

Not an owner just yet. Looking to get new shape oil burning Insignia Tourer to replace my trusty Saab 9-3 Sportwagon.

Come from a Vauxhall’s-Opel background, manly older stuff though. Mantas, Senators, MkII Astras and the like.

Joined up to find out about what to look for, what to avoid and all that good stuff.

Found a few year old SRi VX-lines and Elites. Any thoughts, advice, anything else gratefully received!

          Hi,

The Insignia B hasn't been around long enough for any major issues to have raised their ugly head yet. They were reports of some issues on some of the petrols but not heard anything about the diesels yet. I think the Insignia B shares the same diesel engine as the Facelift Insignia A which has been pretty reliable since it's launch in late 2013. As for the car itself. I've owned mine from new and its a lovely car. Drives really well and the safety features along with the cabin's premium feel make it such a nice place to be whether it be town driving, motorway or country.

You'll get more gadgets on an elite including the Matrix led headlights so it might be worth considering when looking. Though if you do go for an SRi some of us have fitted some excellent after market led bulbs so which ever you decide to buy, you don't need to get stuck with the terrible yellow halogens.

Thanks for the welcome all, looks a friendly place!

Loved the look of the VX line but the Elite is well packed with toys. What I didn’t know about was the AWD system on the Elite as standard. It seems potentially problematic and expensive. What can be done to look after it? And how long can I expect it to last without major bills?

Other than this the new Insignia seems a good buy for a year old car with around 10k on the clock.

Oh, one other question, can the towing pack be fitted retrospectively and programmed into the ESP?

                Thanks in advance

                  Me again!!

Got the car now. Settled for a SRi VX-line Nav.
Preferred the VX-line looks and seats but this one is an ex-Vauxhall car and has a huge spec list including the winter pack and HUD.

Already done 500 miles since Thursday. Lovely car to drive and looks properly sharp on the streets. Will post pics when I figure how to off my phone!

Collected him from Clark’s Motor Company in Ripon and I can thoroughly recommend them if anyone’s looking for a nearly new Insignia.
