  • Winter cleaning process?

I am interested in how your car cleaning habits change from summer to winter?

I always do the full clean on my car in summer every 3 weeks... foam, wash, wax, polish.
but this cant be done in winter without a garage.

It goes dark early, by the time i finish work its too dark
And its always damp or wet, cleaning in the rain is a no... and waxing impossible.

What do you guy do, do you use a special product or just use a wash & wax shampoo?

    For a start don't polish after a wax. It's polish before a wax. [emoji12]

Last few times IV just snow foamed, quick wash and dry. Just a quick dry, don't try to get all damp off, wipe over with a microfiber, keep wringing out and do all car, then with a fresh microfiber lightly wipe all car again. Yes damp patches will come back. Unless you get some warmth into the paint it will always do it.
To be honest when we get the snow etc I probably just snow foam and rinse once a week to keep top side of salt and debris.

Reason i asked is because today is a typical example.
I put aside today to wash the car and its doing that fine rain crap
Rather than do nothing (car is pretty dirty) i was tempted to wash anyway.
neighbours would probably think im off my rocker haha

          I wear a t-shirt in a summer and a coat in a winter

I wash the same all year around. the differences are in a winter I don't always get it as dry as I'd like and I very rarely put and wax on in the winter months so I usually make sure one of my last Autumn wax finishes is a longer lasting wax. If I get the chance in a winter I will give it a going over with a quick detailer.

my car gets washed every weekend ,normally religiously. during the winter,it doesn't even get dried after a wash, then after about the end of march, once a month itll get the works, wash, dry, polish, then wax, also a clay mitt,if it needs it,which it does now tbh, fecking tar spots.

Weather permitting once a week,I usually give mine a powerwash/snow foam then dry.The last wax I did was a coat of Fusso,it's still lasting and beading water!.

I decided to give the car a quick wash last week, and thought I’ll spray a bit of tar remover on it, allow it to work for a few minutes then blast snow foam before a lambs wool mitt wash.... turn out a royal fu&@k up!! The tar ran down the car leaving huge tar run marks all over the paintwork has to polish the whole car to get It back to how it should be, still waiting for another dry day to get the wax Would have done this in a day no probs during the summer but it’s a different game in the winter! So moral of the story .... I’ll stick to a normal wash including cleaning door checks etc once a week during winter and get the polishing& wax during the summer

Just give mine a wash, dry off the windows only, during winter. Will wash and use clay mit and wax at the beginning of winter and again late spring. Too much like hard work doing it any more, than that. It gets a wash only, about every two weeks through summer.
